We're proud to share that Pacific Environments is committed to sustainability through our Toitū membership, tracking and working to reduce our environmental impact.
Our latest carbon emissions report is in, and here's where we stand:
- Total net emissions for 2023-2024 (21.46 tCO2e) represent a 21% decrease from 2022-2023 (26.5 tCO2e), but an increase from 2020-2021 (13.91 tCO2e).
Why the increase? In 2021, Aotearoa was in the midst of lockdowns and restrictions. Most of our team worked from home, travel was minimal, and site visits were few. Now that the country has opened up, travel has returned—especially those flights to sites around the country—leading to a rise in our emissions. (Air travel has consistently contributed over half of our total emissions).
Looking back, 2020 wasn’t the ideal baseline year for comparison, but that’s all part of our learning process. We’re fully committed to reducing our carbon footprint and using this data to improve year after year.
What strategies have been working to reduce your carbon footprint at work? Let’s share and inspire change!
