Each architectural project is different - has different planning needs, consents, design requirements, styles, time frames, consultants and services. Pacific Environments NZ Ltd provides full architectural design services to help meet these needs. By having these abilities in house, provided by our specialist Urban Design, Interior Design and Architectural staff (along with their many years of varied experience), means we can overlay their services on your project. This results in a more cohesive project as all these can come into consideration earlier, meaning we have all areas covered and inputting into the design earlier rather than retrospectively editing the design further in the process.
THE DESIGN OF BUILDINGS AND SPACES
The building process is a minefield of rules, processes, regulations and often contradictory advice.
Our approach is to guide the way while making the process understandable and more enjoyable. We do it together where we tailor the services to suit your needs -especially if it’s your first-time. We recognise the huge investment and the trust that is needed when starting out.
Through our education and experience we have developed necessary skills to provide an overview of the entire building process to steer you through and where necessary know when to get outside help.
We emphasis the value of listening and -really understanding the spatial and budgetary needs, as well as your lifestyle and dreams.
THE DESIGN OF THE INTERIOR SPACES OF BUILDINGS
Pacific Environments’ Interior Designers provide fresh, creative interior design solutions that are both
functional and beautiful.
Working with our architects or directly with clients on individual homes, multi-unit apartments, public buildings
and commercial projects, Pacific Environments Interior Designers provide a professional service down
to the last detail.
ENVIRONMENTALLY SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
DESIGN PROCESSES REDUCING OUR IMPACT ON THE EARTH
Pacific Environments (PENZL) are recognized as one of the leading architectural practices in New Zealand in the field of environmentally sustainable and environmentally regenerative design. Their philosophy is in the practical and appropriate application of ESD to suit a project brief and budget.
Sustainable design and development is maintaining a delicate balance between the human need to improve lifestyles and feeling of well-being, and preserving the natural resources and ecosystems on which we, and future generations, will depend.
SPACE BETWEEN BUILDINGS
Urban design is about designing and shaping cities, towns and places. In contrast to architecture, which focuses on the design of individual buildings, urban design deals with the larger scale of groups of buildings, streets and public spaces, whole neighbourhoods and districts, and entire cities, with the goal of making urban areas functional, attractive, and sustainable. Urban Design is concerned with the interface, or edges, of buildings and the relationship of developments with public space. We advise design strategy and principles for subdivisions, in liaison with surveyors and engineers.
We have a Registered Architect Director with a Post Graduate Master of Urban Design degree, qualifying him to give evidence at Planning Hearings and the Environment Court. Additional to this we have a Registered Architect Associate currently studying for her Masters of Urban Design degree.
MULTIPLE BUILDINGS WITHIN A SITE
Master planning is similar to urban design but usually involves the placement and relationship of buildings within a single site. These buildings are placed to create a functioning social places based on principles of sustainable design and liveability.
CPTED (crime prevention through environmental design) principles are used to ensure safe places are created. We have several staff trained in CPTED.
PRACTITIONER AND ASSESSOR FOR HEALTHIER HOMES
Homestar is a comprehensive, independent national rating tool, run by the not-for-profit New Zealand Green Building Council, that measures the health, warmth and efficiency of New Zealand houses.
Homestar provides a clear framework for housing sustainability and performance and aims to create homes that are healthier and more efficient than much of New Zealand’s existing housing stock.
PROJECTS + SERVICES
There is no one size fits all for each project, with often multiple of our services being brought in to complete a building.
Check out some of our examples of how our services have come together for a successful project.
WHITBY LAKES RETIREMENT VILLAGE
We have been involved with the Whitby Lakes Retirement village, assessing an existing scheme for the client. Through masterplanning, then re-designing the development we were able to achieve an additional 40 units and added significant land value. Our Architecture team re-designed the building with Interiors Team taking over on the funiture selection, material choices and finishes for the whole interior of the village.
