We are committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions from concept through to completion. Our process includes rigorous planning, design, detailing, and site observation, ensuring that we create projects that endure and align with your strategic vision.
Our master planning services act as a blueprint for future development. We begin by thoroughly understanding your requirements and analysing the contextual factors of the site to help you visualise a successful future.
Urban Design considers the way buildings relate both to each other and the wider urban environment. It also considers how people interact with and experience public spaces, including linking these spaces with roads and streets, parks, groups of buildings, neighbourhoods and towns.
With our own in-house interior design team, we have the flexibility to take on interiors-only projects or integrate interior design into our full spectrum of design and project management services. We work to create harmonious, purposeful spaces that align with our clients’ vision and needs.
Project Establishment
The first step is to establish the project brief: we will meet with you and discuss your needs.
From there, we’ll start to work on space planning and the built form, taking into account key information regarding the site, its zoning and any environmental constraints like topography, orientation or services infrastructure.
Concept Design:
Inspiration can come from anywhere; from the brief, from the site itself, its history or natural features, or from something else entirely. During concept design we work iteratively to come up with a design that suits you, and begin to collaborate with other consultants to ensure engineering and planning objectives are met.
Preliminary Design:
This is where we flesh out your chosen concept, finalising spatial planning and the built form, then moving on to determine materials, structure, servicing strategies, health and safety, and more. Collaboration with the client and consultants continues through this stage to ensure we’re still meeting all aspects of the brief and keeping up with planning and engineering requirements.
This stage is where we’ll apply for a Resource Consent if one is required. For more complex projects, we’ll liaise with local authorities to establish their concerns and priorities and make the consenting process as smooth as possible.
Continuing on from Preliminary Design, these stages are where plans, details, specifications and schedules are further developed and detailed in preparation for consents and tendering.
We treat the client brief as a living document, continually
Referring back to and reviewing design decisions to ensure that briefs are met.
During this stage of the project we prepare all the drawings, and associated details and paperwork to submit to local authorities. Plans can now be shared with building groups to price and plan construction.
As Registered Architects we are experienced in both Contract Administration and Site Observation, and these services can be provided independently from one another or as a complete package. Our on-going involvement in the construction phase of the project provides benefits to our clients such as reviewing progress, resolving unforeseen issues and crucially, monitoring the quality of the construction which can pay huge dividends by avoiding expensive remediation in the future.
All our staff who attend site have current SiteSafe Consultant certificates and are equipped with appropriate PPE. Our office has a comprehensive Health and Safety in the Workplace plan which provides additional guidance, training, and procedures to this.
