Finalist in the Property Council Property Industry Awards

Pacific Environments are thrilled to share, that the Tamatea Intermediate School project is a finalist in the Property Council Property Industry Awards!

The redevelopment of Tamatea Intermediate in Napier, was a carefully considered project, prioritising long-term sustainability in the creation of flexible learning environments for ākonga (students). The design solution was future-focused, including classrooms, performance space, the Awhi Centre (wellness and support facilities), and an Admin block.

  • The classrooms are adaptable and flexible, to ensure learning now and in the future without dramatic modifications. They  offer varied facilities to support all sorts of learning – large gathering  spaces, quiet zones, and breakout spaces.
  • A connection to nature and being outside is important when learning all day, so well-designed indoor-outdoor flow was important to get right too.
  • Inclusion, community, and a sense of belonging was integral to the design brief which ran through all aspects of the spaces designed, ensuring ākonga feel supported, and there is collaborative space for staff and whānau

Collaborating with the school on this project was incredibly rewarding, and we are excited to see how the staff and students enjoy learning in their new spaces.
