About

Auckland’s beloved Maritime Museum is renowned for its impressive display of New Zealand’s rich maritime history and unique South Pacific identity. The museum’s learning program has become a cornerstone of the education sector, offering curriculum-linked classes on-site daily that encourage students to wonder, explore, and engage in various hands-on workshops.

Pacific Environments was honoured to design the refurbishment of the education room to improve its acoustic performance and multimedia learning capabilities while creating a multifunctional space within the existing premises. The goal was to expand learning opportunities and provide a versatile environment that benefits both educators and the general public.

Carefully selected materials, textures, and patterns subtly evoke a nautical theme in the interior, inviting occupants to imagine the movement of seawater, the strength of wooden ships, and the breadth of expansive landscapes.
