We recently entered the Prefab NZ SNUG competition, and were one of the 12 finalists! Our design, 45 Degrees, is based on a real life project for Phillip Howard, Principal Pacific Environments NZ Ltd, which he is designing for his family. Phil and Emily developed our SNUG entry and its looking great. I don't know about you, but if I had a bit more backyard I would be looking at one for myself!
What is a SNUG? It is building designed to meet Auckland Council's definition of a minor dwelling, meaning that if you have the space, you could have one on your property. These are all designed to be manufactured off site. 45 Degrees was originally designed to provide extra space for three growing boys as they transition from home to independence. Firstly envisioned to provide additional play space on wet days, then separate semi-independent living and sleeping during the later teenage years, and later as more independent living for young adults. In the future it could become the home of aging parents if any of the boys move into the main house with family of their own.
All the designs from the SNUG competition are available to be developed for your own property, so if it appeals then get in touch.
You can see all the designs here and theres some more info about SNUG on their website.
