Pacific Environments participated in GIB’s annual Architects Regatta last Monday afternoon (24 Feb),
The PENZL team was comprised of Lyn, Miranda + Mini-Miranda, David, Stella, Yuliana and myself (Mat)
Lyn was our seasoned sailing veteran, who’s competed in the GIB regatta for the last 20+years!! She along with Tony, our fearless captain, and Joel, took care of most of the sailing responsibilities, while the rest of us just fought for our survival on the open waters. During our exciting race, Stella, Yuliana and Miranda scrambled back and forth across the hull of the deck, while David and I tried to interpret the captain’s orders and to help with sails and lines. Mini-Miranda, a.k.a Matthew, was our resident pirate armed with a water-gun. While we didn’t let him close to the rum, we did let him get close enough to neighboring boats to pop a few shots off. In the end, I think we came 5th in our division, so unfortunately no silverware for us, but we remain hopeful for future regattas! On a personal note, I never got exposed to the sailing culture growing up, so really appreciate the company encouraging us to experience something so disconnected from our daily work and personal bubbles. I couldn’t recommend the Lyn & Tony sailing experience enough to anyone who hasn’t given it a go! 😃5 Stars!!
