MT ALBERT HOUSE
This house is sited around a 15 metre Norfolk Pine tree and orientated to maximise North West sun and views.
Windows allow views through lower branches of the tree to the Waitakeres and skylights views through higher branches to the birds and stars. Bifold doors and windows allow living areas to extend outside and a two storey height dining space creates the illusion of a house larger than would appear from the outside. Cladding is largely natural corrugated zincalume, which proved very cost effective as part of a relatively small building budget. Inside the floor is a polished concrete mix of shell and pebble. Colours are neutral except where they define the private walls to bathrooms and bedrooms.
