EAST COAST BAYS LIBRARY
The practise was founded as a result of winning a national competition to design a Library/Arts Building for Otago University in 1960. Since then DPBR Architects Ltd (ADP Architects Ltd and now Pacific Environments NZ Ltd) has completed many library buildings all of which ensure that the internal environment within the building provides visitors and staff with a comfortable and well lit space for reading, study and admin work.
Award winning library that lead ESD initiatives before they were more widely championed. Post occupancy evaluation of buildings with similar initiatives has informed current ESD methodology particularly in regard to user group expectations and behaviour.
