4 - Yadua, Nautanivono Island

Yadua, the project name for Nautanivono Island, is a 20 acre uninhabited island paradise located in the Mamanuca Group of Islands south of The Yasawa Group of Islands west of Viti Levu, the Fijian mainland. While untouched, it has become weed-covered from stray seeds from seabird dropping and sea-carried fruits. The development allowed the island to be returned back to it’s original state while offering unsurpassed amenity for it’s residents.
The Brief called for 7 luxurious hideaway Bungalow retreats that gave absolute privacy and top-end service to international owners. Arrival would be by private yacht, launch or helicopter.

Services and amenities are designed to rival most resorts, all caretaker controlled, waiting and service staff on hand to assist where required –if at all.
Living arrangements are all understated yet exclusive, featuring spacious kitchen, dining and lounging areas with high-roofed exposed structure, all bedroom suites with full facilities and private outdoor areas and rock spa pools, with plunge pools and outdoor facilities open to the wide views and idyllic sunsets.

A communal area on the beautiful white sand beach contains the Beach Pavilion with full kitchen facilities –tepanyaki, pizza oven, grill and BBQ cooking, fully equipped bar within a large shaded area, terraces and plunge pool. Beach storage included toys –yacht, jet-ski, kayaking, snorkelling and dive gear.

Being currently uninhabited, all infrastructure and services are required to be self sufficient using leading edge environmentally sustainable design and energy principles –locally sourced materials, salt-desalination plant to supplement fresh bore water and rainwater harvesting, solar photo voltaics and battery store to supplement wind and diesel energy generation, packaged sewerage treatment and irrigation fields, helipad, jetty/wharf over the coral reef to deep water moorings designed to respond to prevailing wind conditions, fuel storage etc.

A full programme and strategy was developed to bring over labour, materials equipment, and temporary facilities etc,
To maintain the pristine nature of the island, a full report on identifying and mitigating risks of any environmental damage.

Client representation, financial modeling and feasibility was undertaken by Craigè Mayo of The Building Intelligence Group http://www.tbig.co.nz
