High on an eastern ridge with a huge southerly aspect, the brief required an improvement to the living arrangements, outlook to the south and outdoor living to the north, improve a previous second storey extension and for the project to be staged. Overall the house was to be brought into the 21st century with a new ‘look’ so that the second storey extension felt like it ‘belonged’ to this house.
The outcome proposed opened up the living areas and kitchen to the north and south, options to close-off spaces as necessary responding to differing needs, double height entry space and open direct ‘scupltural-featured’ stairs, enhanced lower floor sleeping and upper floor master suite. The concept is that of a modern contemporary styling, easy internal flow, recognising the wider built environment and enhanced living in the Eastern Suburbs.
