5 - tamaki drive apartments  Kohimarama, Auckland

BACKGROUND: Fronting the beach across Tamaki Dr, the site sits among other apartment buildings with tight town planning constraints.

BRIEF: to maximise development potential, outlook and sun.

SOLUTION: Working with the restrictive ‘daylight indicators’ and limited height, the 3 unit apartment sits on a carpark basement and enjoys a northern unimpeded coastal outlook. Living areas and wide terraces to the north, master suites also sharing views, open planned internal living.

The concept is about identifying with the coastal theme and colours, nautical flavours of stainless steel, turquoise glass in a neutral palette of colours. While the forms have been dictated, they have creatively merged functionality with sculptured elements, open terraces, modulated openings and window treatments.
