The Sileni building built on the Sileni Estates Vineyard has been designed to completely encapsulate the wine making operation while simultaneously providing the public with easy participation in the wine experience. The simple building forms of the Sileni Winery, part clad in local river stone compliment the natural surrounding landscape of Hawkes Bay.

The building is divided into two main components namely an operations area and a commercial area.  The operations area , which includes the tank farm is located under a central high roofed form with working cellars and warehousing located under the lower roof extensions. Abutting the working area is the commercial area that includes the library, administration offices, wine makers office, laboratory, restaurant and an education/marketing area. This commercial area rises over four levels from three subterrain barrel cellar spaces to the Library and meeting rooms which have panoramic views over the vineyard and neighbouring landscape. The restaurant and marketing areas overlook two mid level barrel halls and the stair landing provides views of the tank farm at various levels.

The Sileni Estates Lodge overlooks one of the Sileni Estates Vineyards and has distant views of the Kawekas and Te Mata Peak. This simple gabled roofed building with full verandah compliments Sileni Estates Winery by accommodating international wine and food connoisseurs as well as providing a first class venue for small conferences and functions in the Hawkes Bay area.

The Zincalume roof, cedar cladding and low river stone walls minimise maintenance requirements. Outside, deep verandahs protect multiple bi-fold door arrangements. Interior materials have also been chosen to keep maintenance low. A polished concrete floor slab extends through the entry, living, dining areas as well as into a small maturation cellar. The lofty ceiling height adds to the spatial qualities and provides some upper level sanctuaries for library resources, reading, TV and work areas.
