This resort commissioned to develop a sustainable resort in the steep foothills below Mt Kinabalu, required utmost sensitivity to the local geography, flora and fauna.
Master planning required a site visit to understand the topography, planning constraints, opportunities to assist develop a unique brief and working closely with the local consultants. Access onto and within the site was critical in developing an efficient and workable concept, identifying potential building platforms, a raised linking walkway for electric carts, and apartments maximising views to the South China Sea in one direction and Mt Kinabalu in the other while minimising the ecological footprint.
Research opened the options for a range of sustainability measures tailored to the site and project conditions, while addressing local cultural interests.
The project has been very well received and Government approval at the highest level has currently been sought.
